THE GENERAL GRANT TREE, Kings Canyon National Park. The General Grant Tree, the General Sherman in Sequoia, and the Grizzly Giant in Yosemite are the three largest giant sequoias in the National Park System. The General Grant is approximately 267 feet high, has a maximum base diameter of 40 feet and a circumference of 108 feet. It is conservatively estimated to be at least 3,500 years old. It is sobering to realize that this hoary old giant germinated some two or three centuries before Babylon was conquered by the Assyrians.
