AGE-OLD RAIN FORESTS IN HOH VALLEY, Olympic National Park. Once cut, virgin forests such as this could nor be replaced for many generations. Yet a constant threat faces these and other magnificent stands of primeval trees in the national parks—and this despite the fact that the park forests cover less than 1 percent of the Nation's forested lands.
