Shenandoah National Park SKYLINE DRIVE Virginia Skyline Drive follows the Blue Ridge down the length of Shenandoah National Park. Completed in 1939, the 105-mile scenic route combines characteristics of both park roads and parkways. Parking overlooks present panoramic vistas of the Shenandoah Valley to the west and the Virginia Piedmont to the east. 'Wayside' areas at convenient intervals feature restaurants, lodging and service stations. Campgrounds and picnic areas provide traditional park recreational opportunities.
