North wing roof, May 1961: New rafter tails added to rafters. Length of tail is 20 inches. New tails are located at the end of each rafter. Four feet of new sheathing placed around extremities of main roof. Two feet of new sheathing placed around extremities of adjoining roof. Balustrade and tile (simulating wooden shingles), not original, removed from entire North Wing roof and replaced. Thirty pounds of building felt was placed in double thickness under all tile. Wood preservative was placed on new lumber used in rafter tails.

South wing roof, May 1961: All sheathing removed from South Wing Main roof hip and replaced with new sheathing. East side of main roof—four feet of old sheathing replaced. On West side of main roof, four feet of old sheathing replaced. New collar beams placed on every A set on main roof. Entire main roof covered with new building felt and new tile.

Conservatory Roof, June 1961: Glass roof (not original) and aluminum rafters (not original) removed and new roof placed over conservatory. This involved: South end of conservatory roof—five (5) new rafters; main section of roof—18 new rafters (3" x 18") 24 inches apart; all rafters tied into the main plate, 2-1/2-inch metal straps used for this purose; new sheathing placed over entire roof, all new wood used on the South Wing roofs had been treated with wood preservative; thirty pounds double thickness building felt placed over entire conservatory roof; new tile used on covering roof.
