The end of the 1932 travel season is at hand and gradually, one by one, the members of the educational staff leave to take up their winter duties. The improvement of Mesa Verde Notes is directly due to the cooperative efforts of the entire force. Most of the articles had previously been presented in a seminar course, inaugurated as a weekly feature of our summer's training work.

We hope for a return next season of all who so willingly gave their best for the success of the educational program enjoyed in the Mesa Verde this summer.

Paul R Franke — Editor, and chief "filler-in" of missing articles, has completed his fifth season at the Park. The mail has brought in many nice letters about the "NOTES" which have well repaid him for the work on the publication. He presents here a short article on the odd habit, of incising pottery designs on the building blocks, practiced by the Cliff Dwellers.

Robert Burgh — Temporary Ranger, is again found in this issue attempting to answer as briefly as possible the question, "How do you know all this?" so often asked on the trails as the rangers discuss the Cliff Dweller Culture.

Lewis T. Barry — Colorado Museum of Natural History, completes the lizard group in this article. We have his promise to canvass the snakes of the region next season.

Caroline Thompson — of Denver, Bryn Mawr, and Washington, D.C. has been Museum Assistant during the past season. Her appreciation and interest, in the decorations placed on the pottery by the ancients, is expressed in her article.

Donald Watson — Ranger Historian, from Denver University, leaves the avian ways and delves into a subject that has been his hobby fer many years. Navaho blankets are articles of Southwestern manufacture and of great interest to the traveler. The entire discussion is too long for this issue so it will be continued in the next number.
