Summary: Mr. M.L., an air taxi operator from Eagle and a frequent
critic of NPS, was flying to Kandik River in NE corner of Yukon
Charlie National Preserve. Never returned. An ELT signal came
into RCC Elmendorf on Wednesday a.m., and a search was mounted.
Mr. M.L. was found with his crashed plane just over the border
into Canada; next to the plane, a message was stamped into the
snow: "call NPS, Eagle. Help!" A Service Firepro helicopter from
Cold Creek rescued Mr. M.L..

Summary: Mr. B.A.O. parked vehicle in turnout. Walked to rear of his
vehicle and shot himself in head with .22 semi-automatic. Visitors
who were bicycling found him shortly thereafter; one was a doctor,
and he began CPR. Rangers transported B.A.O. to Sugarlands VC,
where he was flown out by Lifestar helicopter to Knoxville.
Pronounced dead at 2:25 pm. Left a note saying simply that he was
going to do
